Graduation ceremonies recently were held to recognize RMC’s newest employees. This is the latest ceremony to honor RMC staff who have successfully completed their first 90 days of employment. The most recent class includes veterans and individuals new to the health care field. Each ”graduate” was given a Certificate of Commencement signed by David McCormack, RMC CEO/President. The program began one year ago. Congratulations to RMC’s newest employees!

In Memory of Larry Sylvester
November 21, 2009 · Comments Off
On November 6, 2009, just a few days shy of an fundraising event Larry Sylvester had planned to host as Foundation Board Chairman, he was killed in a bicycle accident near his home.
The RMC Foundation has lost a dear friend, supporter and community member. Everything Larry touched was successful. Larry joined the board in 2002 after retiring from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and years of work with the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. With him he brought a wife, Sheila, who shared his passion, wisdom, a genuine concern for others, and a strong belief in his community with him.
He always wanted the projects of the Foundation to care for the people the hospital served and for the staff who provided the service. He loved the hospital and knew how important it is to our community. Regional Medical Center was truly blessed to have a friend such as Larry.
Whenever you talked to Larry you walked away feeling like you could make a difference. He was a team player. We will miss him, but know that his legacy of hope and belief in others will live on.
To his family and friends, we say, Thank you Larry Kay Sylvester.

November 19, 2009 · Comments Off
Once again, Anniston area organizations and individuals opened their wallets to help fund RMC’s Foundation during its 12th annual charity golf tournament. More than $21,000 was raised at the September 30 event at Silver Lakes. All funds help support vital hospital programs like RMC’s Cancer Cares and Heart Cares. “We are so grateful for the support of the local community and businesses from year to year as the Foundation continues to add the special touches to our patients and families,” said Foundation Director Vickie Simmons. Since its beginnings, more than $350,000 has been raised from the annual tournament.

September 22, 2009 · Comments Off
RMC recently honored 169 longtime employees during two Annual Service Awards events. Employees with 20 or more years of service, including a 40-year award recipient, were honored for their commitment to the hospital with a dinner at Classic on Noble. Eighteen employees received 20-year awards; nine received 25-year awards; eleven received 30-year awards; three received 35-year awards; and one 40-year service award was presented. Each recipient was spotlighted by the Vice President of their department who shared something about each person and presented each with a Certificate of Recognition.
Five, ten and 15-year employees were honored in RMC’s private dining room, where the Vice Presidents also individually recognized employees. Eighty employees were recognized for five years of service; 23 were honored for their decade of service; and 25 staff received awards for 15 years of service.
These outstanding members of our staff have put in 2,095 combined years of service to RMC. Congratulations to all these dedicated members of RMC!
